About Barlinek Forest Landscape Park

Barlinek Forest Landscape Park (Barlinecki Park Krajobrazowy) is a sprawling protected landscape area established in 1991, located primarily in West Pomeranian and partly in Lubusz Voivodeship in Poland. Spanning over 242 square kilometers, it encompasses a mosaic of dense mixed woodlands, including large tracts of pine, spruce, and deciduous trees, reflecting the natural lowland forest ecosystems of this region. The park is dotted with over 30 glacial lakes of varying sizes, the most notable being Lake Barlinek (Jeziorko Barlineckie), which contribute to rich aquatic habitats and recreational opportunities. Its ecological richness supports an array of wildlife such as deer, wild boar, various bird species (including rare owls and woodpeckers), and an abundant undergrowth of flora with protected species of orchids and mosses. Historically, the park area was shaped by the last glaciation, contributing to its characteristic rolling hills, eskers, and moraine landscapes. Outdoor enthusiasts find Barlinek Forest Landscape Park ideal for hiking, cycling, fishing, and canoeing on its lagoons and lakes. The park's well-maintained trail network leads visitors through scenic forest paths, lakeshore routes, and historical sites including remnants of old hunting lodges and water mills. Barlinek town, located adjacent to the park, serves as a convenient gateway offering accommodations, guided tours, and cultural experiences. The landscape park's peaceful environment and rich biodiversity make it a favorite destination for eco-tourists, photographers, and families seeking immersive nature excursions away from crowded tourist hubs.
